Winter School Holiday : As December begins, winter has tightened its grip across North India. From Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad to various parts of Uttar Pradesh, temperatures are लगातार falling, and children are eagerly waiting for their winter vacations. While pre-board and half-yearly examinations are ongoing in many schools, a major update regarding school holidays has come as a relief for students.
Winter School Holiday : 12-Day Winter Vacation in Uttar Pradesh Schools
All schools in Uttar Pradesh have announced winter vacations from 20 December to 31 December 2025, giving students a total of 12 days off. In addition, students will also benefit from Sundays falling on 7, 14, 21, and 28 December, along with the Christmas holiday on 25 December. After this announcement, the month of December is set to feel almost like a festive season for students.
After 31 December, district magistrates may decide to extend the holidays depending on the severity of cold and fog. Schools will keep parents informed about any such updates from time to time.
What Is the Situation in Delhi–NCR?
Amid rising air pollution levels in the national capital, Stage 4 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP-4) has been implemented. Following the enforcement of GRAP-4, the Directorate of Education (DoE), Delhi, has issued new guidelines for schools.
According to the circular, schools in Delhi have been instructed to conduct classes in hybrid mode (both offline and online) for students up to Class 9 and Class 11.

The DoE stated that due to GRAP-4, all government, government-aided, DoE, NDMC, MCD, Delhi Cantonment Board schools, as well as recognized unaided and private schools, are directed to conduct classes for students up to Class 9 and Class 11 in hybrid mode, wherever online facilities are available. This order has come into effect immediately across Delhi and will remain in force until further notice.
As of now, the Delhi Directorate of Education has not officially announced winter vacations. However, according to media reports, the DoE may declare winter holidays for the 2025–26 academic year from 1 January to 15 January 2026. Some reports also suggest that winter vacations in Delhi schools could begin from 28 December.
