Public Holiday : District Magistrate Gaurang Rathi has declared a public holiday on December 27. According to a press release issued by the District Magistrate’s Office, information regarding this decision has been sent to the Superintendent of Police, the Chief Development Officer, and the heads of all government departments.
The order issued by the DM’s office stated that changes have been made to the “List of Holidays Declared for the Year 2025” issued by the General Administration Department of the Government of Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow, on December 17, 2024. As per the revised list, a public holiday has been declared on December 27, 2025, on the occasion of Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti. All schools and colleges will remain closed on this day.
Public Holiday : Order Issued by the District Magistrate
The District Magistrate of Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, Gaurang Rathi, has announced a public holiday on December 27 to mark the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh. Sardar Maninder Singh informed that Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti is celebrated according to the lunar calendar and falls on the Saptami (seventh day) of the Paush month. This year, the date falls on Saturday, December 27. Considering this, the state government has declared a public holiday.
All Government Offices to Remain Closed
According to the issued order, all government offices will remain closed on December 27. Schools and colleges will also observe a holiday. As December 27 falls on a Saturday, people will benefit from two consecutive days of holidays. Schools run by the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council will also remain closed.
12-Day Winter Vacation in UP Schools
All schools across Uttar Pradesh have declared winter vacations from December 20 to December 31, 2025, giving students a total of 12 days off. In addition, students will benefit from Sundays on December 7, 14, 21, and 28, as well as the Christmas holiday on December 25. With these holidays, the month of December will feel like a festive season for students.
After December 31, depending on weather conditions such as cold and fog, the District Magistrate may decide to extend the holidays further. Schools will keep parents informed about updates from time to time.
