Delhi Metro : A New Metro Line will be built in this Area of Delhi, with 8 New Stations on this Route.
Delhi New Metro Station : Delhi is a rapidly developing industrial metropolis. As the national capital, it is a densely populated and congested city. To reduce traffic congestion and provide fast and safe travel facilities to commuters, the government is expanding the metro network. The work of laying new metro lines in Delhi has been accelerated. The government has announced the construction of another new metro line. On Friday, the Metro Rail Corporation officially started work on the fourth corridor of Metro Phase-4, from Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block (Golden Line).
This is the first of the remaining three corridors of Metro Phase-4 on which construction has now begun. With the completion of this new corridor, connectivity with two new interchange stations—Magenta Line and Pink Line—will improve significantly. This corridor will strengthen the metro network in several important areas of South Delhi.
8 stations to be built on an 8.35 km corridor
This will be the shortest corridor of Metro Phase-4, with a total length of 8.35 kilometers. A total of 8 stations will be constructed on this corridor. The entire corridor will be elevated. In the presence of Metro Managing Director Vikas Kumar, piling work was officially inaugurated on Friday with a ground-breaking ceremony near Pushp Vihar. According to metro officials, the project is expected to be completed in at least three years. Officials also stated that work on the remaining two Phase-4 corridors—Inderlok to Indraprastha and Rithala to Narela—will begin soon, as their tender processes are in the final stage.

Improved interchange facilities between metro lines
With the construction of this corridor, commuting will become easier. Interchange facilities between several existing metro lines will also be strengthened. A new interchange station connecting this corridor with the Magenta Line will be developed at Chirag Delhi Station. Additionally, Lajpat Nagar will emerge as another triple interchange hub, where this corridor will connect with the Pink Line and Violet Line. Currently, triple-line interchange facilities exist only at Kashmere Gate and Hauz Khas.
Work to be completed by 2026
Under Delhi Metro Phase-4, about 73% of the work has already been completed on three out of six corridors—Maujpur to Majlis Park, Tughlakabad to Aerocity, and Janakpuri West to R.K. Ashram. The Maujpur to Majlis Park corridor has also received clearance from CMRS for operations and may become operational later this month. The target is to complete work on the remaining three corridors by December 2026.
