8th Pay Commission : After the formation of the 8th Pay Commission, around 11.4 million central government employees and pensioners have many questions regarding salary, pension, dearness allowance (DA), and related benefits. Meanwhile, several messages are going viral on social media. One such message currently circulating widely claims that under the Finance Act 2025, the central government has stopped the increase in dearness allowance (DA) and the benefits of the Pay Commission for retired employees (pensioners).

This message, along with an attached document, is being widely shared on WhatsApp and other social media platforms, creating confusion and concern among millions of pensioners and government employees.

8th Pay Commission : What is the truth behind the viral message?

The Government of India has issued a clarification regarding this viral claim. The government’s official information agency, PIB (Press Information Bureau), investigated the claim and declared it to be completely fake.

PIB Fact Check has clearly stated that the central government has not taken any decision to stop the increase in dearness allowance (DA) or the benefits of the Pay Commission for retired employees.

Changes in CCS Pension Rules, but with a condition

PIB further explained that an amendment has indeed been made to Rule 37 of the CCS (Pension) Rules, 2021, but this amendment applies only to a specific situation.

According to the amended rule, if a government employee who has been absorbed into a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) is dismissed from service due to misconduct, then his or her retirement benefits can be forfeited.

Who will not receive the benefits?

It has been clearly stated that only those employees working in government companies (PSUs) who are dismissed from service due to misconduct such as corruption, indiscipline, or other serious reasons will be denied retirement benefits.

This amendment mainly relates to cases of misconduct involving employees transferred from government departments to PSUs, and does not apply to all pensioners or involve stopping DA or pension benefits in general.

Government employees should not panic over such messages

It is clear that claims about pensioners being deprived of DA or Pay Commission benefits are completely baseless. No such rules have been implemented by the central government. Government employees and pensioners are advised not to trust misleading and unverified information circulating on WhatsApp or social media, and to rely only on official government sources for accurate information.
